This Privacy Policy explains what information www.cknp.org collects from visitors, what we do with it, and the rights you have over it. CKNP is operated by the Directorate of Central Karakoram National Park, Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan.

Who we are

Our website address is https://www.cknp.org. The site is informational: we publish information about the park, treks, wildlife and visitor services. We do not sell anything from this site.

What data we collect

Comments

If you leave a comment on a post we collect: your name, your email address (not displayed publicly), your IP address, and your browser user-agent string. The IP address and user-agent are stored to help spam detection.

Contact form

If you send us a message via the contact form, we collect the fields you fill in — typically name, email and message body — so we can reply to you. Submissions are stored on the site and are also emailed to the park administration.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs for security and performance: IP address, request URL, timestamp, status code, user-agent. Logs are retained for up to 90 days.

Analytics

We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful to visitors. We do not run third-party advertising trackers on this site.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on the site, you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so you don’t need to fill in the same details on subsequent comments. They expire after one year.

If you log in to the site (administrators only) we set session cookies to keep you logged in. They are removed when you log out.

Embedded content

Articles on this site may include embedded content from YouTube, Facebook or other services. Embedded content from other websites behaves the same way as if you visited that website directly, and those services may collect data about you, set their own cookies, and track your interaction. We do not control what they collect.

How long we retain your data

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically. Contact form submissions are retained for as long as needed to respond, and then archived for a maximum of two years.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

Send you a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
Correct or update inaccurate data.
Delete your data, where we are not obliged to retain it for legal reasons.

Data security

The site uses HTTPS, modern security headers (HSTS, content-type protection, framing protection, referrer policy, permissions policy), and standard WordPress hardening. We do not store payment data — the site does not take payments.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of the page. Material changes will be highlighted on the home page for at least seven days.
